Champions for a Drug-Free Kentucky

Champions for a Drug-Free Kentucky are anti-drug community coalitions that have served their communities in the Commonwealth for over 20 years.  Champions Coalitions are adult-led volunteer groups that provide proven, science-based curricula and environmental strategies to youth 18 and under in their local schools and in their communities.

Champions Coalitions develop a prevention plan for their community based on the Principles of Effectiveness:

  1. Needs Assessment,
  2. Analysis of Risk and Protection,
  3. Measurable goals and outcomes,
  4. Science-based programs,
  5. Parental involvement, and
  6. Periodic evaluation.

We encourage you to contact the leader of your community's coalition.  Contact information for the coalitions are found on the county pages of this site. Click on "Kentucky Counties" at the top of the menu on the left side of this page and then click on your county on the map.  If your county does not have a Champions Coalition and you are interested in developing one, please call Sandra Harston at 502-564-8294 or email her at SandraK.Harston@ky.gov.
