Gillette News Record (WY)
A locally-made film about the brutal, 2004 death of a Gillette woman at the hands of a man under the influence of methamphetamine will be shown at Gillette College at 7 p.m. Monday and will be attended by Max Maxfield, Wyoming's secretary of state.
Maxfield said he takes a personal interest in the film because of his long-time work on youth issues and because a young Gillette resident, Andrew McGee, made the film.
ìI was fortunate to grow up in an era where beer was the most dangerous thing out there but the amount of garbage in meth, the effects on the body and the quickness with which you can get addicted is unbelievable,î Maxfield said Monday.
ìIf Andrew McGee can take the time to make this film, I can make the time to drive to Gillette to show support for it.î
Maxfield said he had worked with youth non-profit organizations for 23 years before becoming the secretary of state and he has kept an eye on Wyomingís meth problems all along.
